Swift®  Therapy for Stubborn Verruca

What is Swift®?

Swift Therapy treatment is a new and state of the art technology, developed here in the UK, which is used for wart and verruca removal. It has a high success rate especially for treating stubborn warts and verrucas.

Swift uses microwave energy delivered through a special probe applied to the skin to treat the affected verruca tissue. A probe contacts the lesion and the microwave energy travels into the skin, water molecules begin colliding and create a localised heat energy, quickly destroying all infected tissue to a predetermined depth.

  • Minimal Disruption: No need for dressings, no downtime, and you can carry on with your day as normal.

Verruca Removal FAQs

What is a Verruca?2024-01-03T11:51:13+00:00

Verruca or Verrucae are warts on the feet. They are a viral tissue that occupies the upper layers of your skin to form a cauliflower like structure. They are caused by the HPV virus/human papilloma virus.

How do I know if what I have is a verruca?2022-10-20T14:23:10+00:00

Verruca are not usually painful when you stand unless they are in a weight-bearing joint area. If you pinch it with your fingers it may hurt but if you press directly on them they tend not to. It is very common to see small black dots in the tissue and this is the small capillaries coming up through the viral tissue from the base layer. Veruca can look different on different areas of the feet. At So Podiatry we can help detect and identify what it is on your foot.

How can I get rid of my verruca?2022-10-20T14:23:49+00:00

A first line treatment for Verruca is to try over-the-counter remedies. The key is to be consistent with the treatment for up to 3 months. Verruca can be very stubborn. The earlier you treat your Veruca the more likely you are to have success.

It is essential that you definitely know that it is a Verruca that you are treating with these remedies if you are not sure please ask a professional podiatrist like SO Podiatry. Many health care providers often confuse Verruca and corns, these skin lesions are treated differently. If using an over-the-counter remedy it is important not exceed the dose that is in the instructions. Do not use these if you have diabetes, peripheral neuropathy is known to have reduced blood supply or neuropathy to the feet.

Aside from the kitchen appliance, microwaves are used in a number of everyday applications. Standard wifi uses microwaves, mobile phones, bluetooth, and cordless phones all use microwaves to send data over short distances. Furthermore, most satellite communications systems (including GPS navigation systems) are also based on the use of microwaves – we interact with microwaves in more ways than we know, every day.
