End Painful Ingrown Toenails—Fast, Permanent Relief with Expert Nail Surgery

Are you suffering from a sore, swollen, or infected toenail that just won’t heal?

Ingrown toenails can make every step agony—and repeated infections or failed home remedies only add to your frustration. If you’re dreading every shoe change or worried about your nail getting worse, SO Podiatry is here to help.

Why Choose Nail Surgery?
When conservative treatments (soaking, cutting, antibiotics) haven’t worked, nail surgery is a safe, simple, and effective way to solve the problem for good.
At SO Podiatry, our experienced clinicians use gentle, local anaesthetic to ensure you’re completely comfortable throughout the procedure.

What to Expect

  • Expert Assessment: We’ll confirm your diagnosis and explain the best treatment for your nail. Treatment is with a HCPC registered Podiatrist
  • Comfortable Procedure: The toe is fully numbed, so you won’t feel a thing. We remove the problematic section (or the whole nail if needed) and apply a special solution to prevent it growing back.
  • Quick Recovery: Most people walk out of the clinic straight after the procedure. We’ll provide full aftercare instructions to keep you healing well.
  • Permanent Results: No more repeated infections, pain, or unsightly nails—just healthy, pain-free feet.

Why choose SO Podiatry?

30+ Years’ Experience: Trusted, HCPC-registered clinicians with a patient-first approach.

Advanced Techniques: We use the latest methods for the best outcomes and fastest recovery.

Nail Surgery FAQs

How long does it take to recover after Nail Surgery?2023-12-14T16:21:07+00:00

You will be able to walk straight after the surgery, the local anaesthetic will wear off after 2-3 hours. It is advisable to rest, relatively, for the rest of that day. You may go back to normal activities the next day but best to avoid sport and swimming until your podiatrist advises you.

Total healing normally takes 4-6 weeks, if there is an infection present it may take a week or two more.

Is Nail Surgery pain free?2023-12-14T16:22:05+00:00

As the nail surgery procedure is carried out under Local Anaesthetic (LA) the procedure is totally pain free. The LA is the only thing that you will feel, but don’t worry, it takes less than 20 seconds to administer this. Your podiatrist is well experienced in helping anxious patients so please let them know if you are concerned about needles.

Can I walk after Nail Surgery?2023-12-14T16:23:12+00:00

Yes, you can walk immediately after ingrown toenail surgery. Your toe will be numb and you are advised not to drive until the anaesthetic has worn off. It is best to rest most of the day after the procedure to avoid excessive bleeding, it is ok to potter at home, but periodic rest with the foot elevated is advised for the rest of that day.

How long after toenail removal can I wear shoes?2022-10-20T12:31:07+00:00

On the day you have the procedure it is advisable to wear sandals or slippers due to the size of the bandage. You may wear your normal shoes 1-2 days later when you change the dressing to a smaller one. It is important to not wear tight shoes that may squash the toe during this time.
