Curacorn®, sterile gel injections for the skin on your feet.

Curacorn®️ uses the natural substance Hyaluronic Acid, the same substance that is injected regularly into joints. Curacorn®️ has been developed using a highly vicous formulation of the product which is proven not to disperse under the pressure of walking.

It enables us to form a ‘cushion’ underneath a lesion to decrease the production of callus and corns and ultimately relieve the pain associated with them. Its effects can last up to 18 months.

How does it work?

Hyaluronic acid is found in many tissues of the body, such as epidermis, dermis and cartilage. It is an important component of articular cartilage as it responsible for its resilience (resistance to compression) where it is present as a coat around each cell. It is also a major component of epidermis and dermis, where it is involved in tissue protection, resistance and repair. When the skin is exposed to excessive UVB rays, smoke, pollution and in the natural ageing process, the cells in the skin stops producing as much hyaluronan and, specially with the ageing, it increase the rate of its degradation. Hyaluronic acid has been used in the medical field in other to attempts to treat osteoarthritis of the knee via injecting it into the joint. It was also approved for use in eye surgery (such as corneal transplantation, cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, and surgery to repair retinal detachment). Therefore, we can assume that hyaluronic acid is well suited to biomedical applications on the cartilage, derma and epidermis with optimal results, biocompatible material, fast and comfortable procedure, safe and non permanent effect.

The Hyaluronic Acid we use to inject the foot has the highest viscosity of hydronic acid products, which has been proven to reduce pressure from painful lesions. Once introduced into the body, it provokes the formation of collagen and draws fluid to the area, creating a natural cushion.

The Curacorn® product stays in the same area to which it is injected and provides a natural cushion between the skin and the joint lasting up to 18months before the body will naturally dissolve the product.

Who can benefit and what to expect

Patients who can benefit from a treatment like this include:

  • Those with painful chronic corns on high weight-bearing areas or in-between the toes
  • Patients with a thinning of the natural fatty padding in the ball of the foot exposing the joints to high pressure on walking
  • Those with biomechanical changes within the foot leading to high pressure areas (e.g. bunions and retracted toes)

Generally, Curacorn® treatment would require a set of three appointments – during an initial routine foot care appointment  your Podiatrist may offer this as a treatment option.

During your 1st appointment, we will conduct an assessment to ensure this treatment is suitable for you. We will discuss the aftercare necessary post-injection. Your podiatrist will prepare the affected area with debridement.

On your second appointment, your Podiatrist will administer a local anaesthetic to numb the area to be treated. The filler will then be injected into the area or areas.

During your third appointment, we will assess the top filler. You should have started to feel the benefit at this stage.

  • It can reduce the need for medicated pain relief

  • It can be an alternative for those considering surgery

  • It can offer long-term pain relief and the benefit of increased mobility, mental health and well-being

  • Reduced Podiatry appointments for painful corns

Case Study:

We love a success story..

Here we have our lovely female patient, age 62, who had a long-standing painful corn between her toes.

After receiving Curacorn®️ treatment, the corn never came back.

The End!
